All commercially occupied buildings in the UK are required to ensure their building is equipped with emergency lighting which is suitably designed and maintained. Emergency lighting assists all occupants and visitors to exit safely and easily in case of emergencies such as fire, flood and power cut, where other lighting ceases to work.
