Allow us to Safeguard you as a Duty Holder.

Under The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR) the Duty Holder has a legal responsibility to ensure that electrical systems under their control are safe at all times.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

Regulations 4(1) and 4(2) state that an electrical installation should be designed, installed, operated and maintained in a safe manner at all times. This means that your electrical installation has to remain safe from the point of commission all the way to decommission, and that you can evidence this for insurers and in case of an incident occurring where damage to property or to persons is inflicted.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 do not specifically state that an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) has to be undertaken, however, this is the most recognised form of compliance with regulation, and is accepted by all insurers as an appropriate means of you evidencing that you have carried out your responsibility as a Duty Holder.

Completing an EICR will Safeguard your position as a Duty Holder, and keep your business as safe as possible. Paragraph 69 of 4(1) and 4(2) state:

“Records of maintenance, including test results, preferably kept throughout the working life of an electrical system will enable the condition of equipment and the effectiveness of maintenance policies to be monitored.’’

As a Duty Holder, having the evidence of regular EICRs protects you personally as a Duty Holder, and ensures that you have carried out your due diligence in this area.

With Safeguard Electrical Compliance Ltd, you will receive an honest report of Electrical Safety at your business. We only write up genuine observations and faults, and unlike some other companies, we do not place any pressure on you to choose us as the contractor to complete any remedials/repair work. We will however, happily offer quotation for any required repairs (remedials) on request and can tie up the remedial certification for your EICR report.

We are able to work with you to find the most convenient times for your EICRs to be completed, and will therefore carry out inspections and other works out of hours if required, to minimise any disruption to your business. This may include working to carry out tasks during school holidays, bank holidays, evenings and weekends. This will need to be discussed and agreed at the planning stage before works are confirmed.

Allow us to Safeguard you as the Duty Holder, as well as Safeguarding the electrical safety in your business.
