Past Electrical Testing Projects (EICRs)

At Safeguard, we have been pleased to be part of some amazing projects, supporting the completion of Electrical Installation Condition Inspections (EICRs) for some very iconic buildings.

The Shard

The Shard is one of the most iconic buildings on the London sky-line, with varied usage across 95 floors and 306 meters height. We are proud to have been part of testing the Shard’s Shangri-La Hotel, as well as Shard Quarter apartments, and the office floors, spending a large amount of time on this project across the past few years.

Government Buildings and Banks

At Safeguard, we are trusted to inspect and test some of the country’s most secure and well-guarded businesses and agencies. We are very proud to have been involved in Inspection and Testing the National Crime Agency and also the Mayor of London’s Office.

Data Centres

At Safeguard we are proud to have been involved in Inspection and Testing at Data Centres such as Goldman Sachs and Lloyds Horizon Data Centres. Inspection and testing at Data Centres require careful planning and consideration to ensure that power supplies are left uninterrupted and that back-up systems such as UPS systems are working correctly. This ensures that vital parts of our industry’s information systems continue to work as they should.

Museums

At Safeguard, we are experienced in working in environments housing vital parts of our world’s history. We have had the pleasure of supporting the electrical testing for the London Science Museum and London British Museum, and are experienced working across historical buildings of varying ages. This means adapting our inspection style to the age of the installation, in line with requirements of listed buildings which fall into the category of Special Locations under BS671 Wiring regulations.

Hospitals

We are proud to have supported the testing and inspection of a number of hospitals and medical institutes. These have included, Kings College London, Chandlers Ford dialysis unit – Fresenius Medical Care and Haywards Heath Hospital. In all the settings we work in, we keep vulnerable individuals at the heart of our focus during inspections, ensuring we work with the staff to make sure that patient care is not impacted by our inspections. We have a proven track record of going the extra mile and working diligently with your own site engineers, to provide advice and support in resolving electrical issues for hospitals during inspections. See our feedback page for more information

Enclosed is a photo of our director Ben on Christmas Eve installing an emergency back-up generator, enabling life-saving dialysis treatment for a ward of 40 people. There had been a major power outage following a storm, and the entire ward had no power. We got it sorted!

Wembley Stadium

We are proud to support the Electrical Testing at Wembley Stadium, one of the most iconic football and entertainment stadiums in the world. Wembley Stadium has very varied uses, including catering for major music events, office areas, and supports a crowd capacity of 90,000 people. It has been a pleasure to be involved with the inspection and testing of Wembley Stadium during 2023 and during 2024. Throughout this time we completed full thermal imaging of main LV panels, UPS systems, all distribution boards and busbar tap-offs. We also completed full shut-downs of the 11kV transformers throughout the stadium, Busbar inspections and maintenance and Fixed Wire Testing of the entire stadium.

Schools and Colleges

Safeguard have been involved in inspection and testing at a number of schools and colleges, including The Brit School, Chichester Highschool, and Newham Sixth Form College, Comberton Village College and Plaistow College. Inspections at these colleges have included both student accommodation and grounds, across varying ages of buildings. We are able to work with you to find the most convenient times for your EICRs to be completed, and will therefore carry out inspections and other works out of hours if required to minimise any disruption to your business. This may include carrying out inspection and testing tasks during school holidays, bank holidays, evenings and weekends. This will need to be discussed and agreed at the planning stage before works are confirmed.

Leisure Centres

We are experienced working across large centres of wellbeing, including leisure centres, Spas and sports centres. Within the leisure sector, frequent testing is required in order to ensure that both ‘wet and dry’ areas are safe for public use. ‘Dry’ areas such as gyms need to be tested every three years, whereas ‘Wet’ areas such as changing rooms, Saunas and Swimming pools must be tested every 12 months. Safeguard are pleased to have been involved in the Inspection and Testing of businesses such as Everyone Active, Champneys Springs Spa and many local smaller sports and wellbeing centres.

Shopping Centres

At Safeguard, we have supported the electrical testing at a number of Shopping Centres across the South of England and are proficient working in any commercial settings.

Industrial Sites

Safeguard are experienced completing Inspection and Testing across the range of industrial sites present in the UK. We have completed work in Ship Yards, Warehouses, Manufacturing businesses and factories. We are confident working in environments where productivity is key, and as with all our projects, we plan our jobs carefully with you to ensure as little disruption as possible to your business.

Glastonbury Festival Renewable Energy - Green Fields

Our Director, Ben Ray supports Glastonbury Festival with the installation and inspection of Solar PV systems in the Green Fields. Festivals are seen as a ‘Special Location’ and ‘Temporary Electrical Installations’ in part 7 of the BS7671- Wiring Regulations. Due to being a solar installation within a festival environment, this falls under two sections of special locations within regulation (Section 712 and Section 740).

Under these special conditions, the designer must ensure the safe design and maintenance of temporary structures, ensuring that these remain fit for purpose as these are often exposed to the elements and open to the general public. Ben has over 12 years of experience providing fully off- grid renewable energy solutions at Glastonbury Festival and takes pride in being at the forefront of showcasing the newest and most efficient solar PV technology and battery (EESS) storage solutions. Ben also has experience installing ground mount systems for temporary and permanent solar panel structures, suitable for installation in challenging terrains.
